Mario Treude

Mr. Mario Treude contributes the economic component, i.e. the business planning of the Bioenergie grünes Deutschland GmbH/BioEnergy Germany Group. After his education as an assistant tax consultant, Mr. Treude went into business in the areas of outsourcing of services for companies primarily in accounting but also  services in the sales support. During this time Mr. Treude was not only responsible for professional topics but also for the organization of sales and strategic marketing. He also transferred the company from a GmbH (limited liability company) to an AG (joint stock company). In 2012, he finally developed together with Mr. Dr. Rottmann the concept for Bioenergy Germany Group.

Mr. Treude switched completely to the management of Bioenergie grünes Deutschland GmbH and is thus also responsible for the entire Bioenergy Germany Group. In particular, his economic business competence and experience in context with the natural interest in sustainable and future-oriented projects, led him to focus onto the energy production from renewable resources and residues.

Dr. Nils Rottmann

Mr. Dr. Nils Rottmann looks back on extensive experience in all aspects of the generation of energy from biomass and residues. After studying Environmental sciences at the University of Bielefeld with the focus on renewable energy, ecology and microbiology, Dr. Rottmann took a doctoral degree at the University of Kassel in the field of microbiology in combination with the field of study in agricultural sciences.  After comprehensive experiences during the employment at a renowned business consultancy in the field of environmental and quality management with the focus on the project planning of biogas plants and similar energy plants, Dr. Rottmann changed to Biogas Nord and managed the biological laboratory.  In reference to this employment, he was responsible for the biological support of over 300 biogas plants in Germany and abroad.  They were biogas plants based on energy crops as well as residue-processing.  In 2012, Mr. Rottmann changed to another high renowned biogas plant constructor. Initially he was responsible for the German biogas projects but later dedicated his work exclusively to special- and large-scale projects. As logical consequence, of this extensive experience gathered in the technical and organizational aspects of sustainable energy production from renewable resources and residues, Dr. Rottmann became a founder and one of the main shareholders of the BioEnergy Germany Group. In 2015 Dr. Rottmann took responsibility as the CEO of BioEnergy Germany – machinery and plant construction Co., Ltd. for the successful development and realization of the projects especially in South-East-Asia and other tropical countries.

Interview Dr. Nils Rottmann

Dr. Nils Rottmann, Managing Director of the BioEnergy Germany Group (Southeast Asia Division) added: “With our new contract BioEnergy Germany became the local leader and even an international leading company for the supply of biogas plants fed with Napier grass and similar feedstocks. Today we set a landmark for the local industrial sector that recognizes our technological knowhow, extreme flexibility and capacity to offer customized solutions to obtain the maximum efficiency of the plant. To consolidate our position in the region we are going to establish local O&M (operation & maintenance) services as well as laboratory services to all anaerobic digestion plants, putting our worldwide achieved experience to the use of local and international sustainable power producers.”

Mr. Mario Treude, Managing Director in the BioEnergy Group declared: “We are very proud of this new opportunity in Malawi. The region is a very important market for BioEnergy Germany, and thanks to our strong local commitment and partners we can guarantee the advantages of dealing with local and international brands, with the technological knowhow of a German leader in the biogas sector. This 2023 has been a year of great success and this last award strengthens and consolidates our growth.”

FAQ

What is biogas and how is it produced?

Biogas is a renewable energy source that is produced from organic matter such as animal waste, food waste, and sewage. It is produced through a process called anaerobic digestion, which involves the breakdown of organic matter by bacteria in the absence of oxygen.

What are the benefits of biogas production?

Biogas production has several benefits. It is a renewable energy source that can be produced from waste materials, reducing the amount of organic waste that is sent to landfills. It can also be used as a fuel for heating, electricity generation, and transportation, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, biogas production can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by capturing methane that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.

What is the difference between biogas and natural gas?

Biogas and natural gas are similar in composition, as both are predominantly methane. However, natural gas is a fossil fuel that is extracted from the ground, while biogas is produced from organic matter through anaerobic digestion.

How is biogas used for energy production?

Biogas can be used to generate electricity and heat through the use of a biogas-fired generator or a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. It can also be upgraded to biomethane and used as a transportation fuel, or injected into natural gas pipelines for use in homes and businesses.

What types of organic matter can be used to produce biogas?

A wide variety of organic matter can be used to produce biogas, including agricultural waste such as manure and crop residues, food waste, sewage sludge, and energy crops such as corn and nepier gras.

How much biogas can be produced from a given amount of organic matter?

The amount of biogas that can be produced from a given amount of organic matter depends on a variety of factors, including the type and quantity of organic matter, the temperature and pH of the digester, and the efficiency of the anaerobic digestion process. Generally, the more easily digestible the organic matter is, the more biogas it can produce.

What are the challenges associated with biogas production?

There are several challenges associated with biogas production, including the high capital costs of building and operating biogas plants, the need for a consistent supply of organic matter, and the need for skilled operators to manage the anaerobic digestion process. Additionally, biogas production can produce odors and other environmental impacts if not properly managed.
